Terms and Conditions
Scheduling
The teaching year is considered to last between September and June (with July and August taken off for summer break). All lessons, unless otherwise agreed upon, are booked weekly and last one hour. Lessons cancelled by the student require advanced notice of one week, or are considered forfeit. However lessons cancelled by the teacher will be extended, refunded, or made-up on a case-by-case basis. If for any reason, a student must change their reserved time, and lessons need to be rescheduled for a different day of the week, a grace period of one week before the scheduled lesson is required. In the event of lesson cancellation, students are asked to provide two weeks notice. The following dates are considered holidays and will NOT have lessons: -St Patrick's Day (March 17th) -Labour Day (Sept 1st) -Thanksgiving Weekend (Friday to Monday) -Easter Weekend (Friday to Monday) -Christmas Break (as determined by the Toronto School board - generally the last two weeks of December and the first week of January)
Payment
Lesson times are reserved at a rate of $60 per hour long session. Payments may be made out in cash, e-transfer, or cheque (made out to Erik Samuel). If payment is missed for three consecutive weeks, services may be refused and lessons times will not be kept reserved.
Required Materials
Drumset students are required to have -A set of full-sized drumsticks -A copy of Syncopation for the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed -A practice surface (e.g. drumset, drumpad, electronic drums, etc) Theory students should have access to an instrument that allows them to apply concepts that are being learned, and should have access to a computer with notation software (such as Musescore or Sibelius/Finale). Live Show Production students are required to have all of their instruments/amplification prepared as necessary for them to play a live performance. All students are expected to have instruments in working order.
